Gabe Hamilton - Week 1 - Day 2

Plan:

Day 2
- Forms
- One-step sparring (1 - 10)

Another solid lesson. Forms went very well - it appears a lot of that "rust" Gabe was worried about is coming of very easily. We were able to get through many of them without having to go by count. The higher forms went by count but only two required detailed instruction. One steps went very well. We will continue on those next week.

1) Chun-Ji
---One run through of this form.

---Stances good.

---Power good.

---Flows better than Day 1.

2) Dan-Gun
---One run through of this form.

---Stances good.

---Power good.

3) Do-San
---One run through of this form.

---Corrections made on Day 1 are looking good.

---Will need some work on backfist, turn & drop into front stance, reverse punch.

4) Won-Hyo
---Two run throughs of this form. By count.

---Some trouble towards the end. Walked through slowly & corrected.

---Should be ready to go without count next class.

5) Yol-Guk
---Two run throughs of this form. By count.

---Solid run both times. Very minor corrections needed.

---Ready to try without count.

6) Choong-Gun
---Two run-throughs of this form. By count.

---Worked on knifehand guarding block to elbow strike technique.

---Spent some time on supported forearm block, side punch, side kick.

---Will continue by count for at least two more classes.

7) Toi-Gye
---Two run throughs of this form. By count.

---Very well done. Gabe said this was his favorite form. It shows.

---Very minor adjustments. No major issues.

---Will continue by count for at least two more classes to ensure consistency.

8) Hwa-Rang
---Three run throughs of this form. One, I talked him through. Twice by count.

---Corrected pressing palm strike at beginning.

---Slow walkthrough. Focused on getting the techniques down.

---Will continue by count for at least two weeks (four classes).

9) One-Step Sparring
---Spent time only on 1 - 10.

---#10 was a change but Gabe adjusted easily.

---Will retry these on Monday. Good overall.

Spent approximately 1 hour training. Forms are looking very good at this point. One-steps are pretty well in place - his memory is returning on those.

Will plan to take one-steps to #15 next class & add the White/Yellow belt self-defense as well.

Forms will continue in every lesson.
